So we caved in and planned a trip to Taipei to catch the concert. Stayed near Taipei Arena so it was really easy to get there compared to our last Sendai escapade. We didn’t really bother to buy any goods, mainly because we already got the stuff during Sendai Con. We didn’t really need another copy of the pamphlet just because it’s in Chinese. Sometimes I think my Chinese is as bad as or worse than my Japanese. Lol.

We got tickets to both nights.

I thought my footie OTP was dead! Especially when Rooney started talking about playing better without Gaki around, I was all DDDD:

But Gaki was “quick to defend his friend” in regards to Rooney’s poor showing at World Cup 2010. Funny how I didn’t stumble upon this article until now.

“Wayne Rooney tried very hard, he’s always like that, but he didn’t play alone,” said Ronaldo. “So it’s difficult, when it’s not coming, when you don’t score a goal or play well, it is always the big players’ fault. Wayne is a great player and will do a good job. He’ll try very hard to do a good job.”

I know it’s not exactly slashy and all but I guess I’ll take anything right now, lol. Recently, Schweinski is giving them a run for their money as my fave footie OTP though. :D

Ueda’s new concert goods are seriously some of the cutest ever. And the notebook’s useful too! Although, eh, ear pick? I mean, I guess it’s useful but er… lol. I’m just surprised he still doesn’t have toilet paper as one of the concert goods. He was pretty enthusiastic about having toilet paper for KAT-TUN’s concert goods in the past after all (but the others argued that the paper will be flushed away, haha).

I have a question though… Is that, erm, human thing supposed to be Ueda? It looks like a girl… I’m not sure if it’s supposed to represent Ueda’s fans or himself, lol.

The Manchester United vs. MLS All-Stars was some time last week I think, but we didn’t get to watch the telecast of the game live. R decided to install ESPN Player and check out the game, and we were amused. At the beginning, one of the American guys doing the match preview was super pro-MLS All Star team, which is fine and all cos he’s supporting his own country’s all-star football team and all. Add the fact that prior to this game, English clubs have not been able to defeat MLS All Stars over the course of 90 minutes.

So this guy was all like “as an MLS fan, I am sure MLS All Stars will win this game” giving reasons such as Rooney, Ferdinand and other first team players not being available for this game for Man United. Then there’s also the sad fact that Man United had lost the friendly to Kansas City Wizards a few days prior.

Unfortunately for this American guy and all MLS fans, this is Manchester United we’re talking about.

The scoreline was 5-2 to Manchester United. Yes, we played with a lot of kids and many of the big name players weren’t around. All 5 goals were scored by kids (loved Cleverley’s goal)! Including one by Macheda in the 23rd SECOND. Sorry, what was that guy saying again about MLS definitely winning the game? XD I love it when United prove all these dumbasses wrong.

While we’re on the topic of football and continuing from the previous post, Schalke beat Bayern Munich’s b-team 3-1 to win the LIGA Total Cup or er, whatever it’s called, I forgot. I mean, great for Schalke winning cos that means Ucchi winning his first medal with them. :D

Ucchi only played for the last 10 minutes, coming on as a substitute and getting a pat on his face by Raul. Yes. Raul. *was excited seeing that* He made a great tackle when the Bayern player was running towards goal, so good for him!

Anyway, R read a quote somewhere that Ucchi said he didn’t really understand what Raul was saying most of the time but he would still talk to Raul anyway. XD I can imagine him nodding to whatever Raul was saying and Raul probably realising that this young Japanese guy doesn’t really understand him, lol. Raul’s second goal (Schalke’s third) was a real beauty by the way. Perfect chip over the goalkeeper!

Last night, R & J watched the Schalke game against Hamburg, erm, to see Uchida of course.

Screen shows Raul.

J: Oh hi!
R: Don’t know if Ucchi will play or not…

Screen shows Schalke’s team sheet / formation.

J: *points at screen excitedly* He’s playing!

Screen shows the teams in the center circle, Uchida is standing at the side.

Both: *squeals over Uchida’s cuteness*
R: I still think he looks better in blue… Oh no… (because Manchester United wears red… and obviously both hope that he might play for United someday, lol)
J: No lah, I think it’s also because the Kashima Antlers jersey isn’t very nice-looking.
R: True.

Game begins, R mentions some other Schalke players names, J doesn’t remember any of the other players (other than Uchida and Raul… and that ex-Real Madrid defender/Raul’s friend). Talked about the Chinese midfielder in Schalke and about Westerner’s inability to discern Asian first and last names. Then midway through the first half, both of us felt the need to go to the toilet. R goes first…

Screen shows a close-up of Uchida during a throw-in.

J: *shouts* Your timing is damn bad!
R: What? You mean they zoomed in on him?
J: Yeah, he’s taking a throw-in.

Obviously by the time R returns from the toilet, there’s no more close-up shot of him. ^^;; J waits for a while, kinda reluctant to go to the toilet.

J: Don’t tell me I have to go to the toilet before they’ll show a close-up of him again? *rushes off anyway*

At 30 minuites, whistle blows and it’s half-time. Which of course baffles the both of them because games are usually two halves of 45 minutes. Maybe cos this LIGA Total Cup thing is just a friendly competition of sorts? Not sure, since both have pretty much little knowledge (if not zero) of German club football.

Second half begins, but sadly, being a ‘friendly’ and all, Uchida got substituted at half-time. J was a bit bored after that. Until nearer the end of the game, after Raul had been substituted, cameras decide to show Raul on the bench. Guess who’s sitting on Raul’s left?

J: *points at screen* AHHH HE’S THERE! HE’S THERE!
R: *stops playing with iPhone to look at screen*
Both: *in fangirl mode*
R: I should record this!
J: We can record the repeat telecast.
R: *waits for game to end before going to set the recording of the repeat telecast*
J: *noted the time of the final between Schalke and whoever wins the other game* So late! But I need to sleep!
R: *sets recording for final too*

XD;;

Overall, thought that Uchida didn’t do badly. Did his normal defensive duties, but didn’t really have much chance to show his attacking abilities. Not bad but nothing impressive either, unfortunately. Hoping he’ll have more chances to show his strengths (speed, crossing) in future games.

Note: Both R & J are normally much less squeal-y when watching other football games. Really.
